As a highly sustainable urban extension,
West Stevenage will incorporate a wide range of community facilities and
infrastructure to serve the needs of the people living within the new development.

- Employment development so that people can live and
work in close proximity. West Stevenage will support approximately 3,500
jobs
- A new secondary school, three new primary
schools and provision for nursery facilities
- A mixed use centre and two local centres providing
for day-to-day shopping, leisure and entertainment needs
- Provision of three community centres, a youth
centre, emergency services facilities and a cemetery
- Sites for a religious facility and a health
centre, plus a financial contribution towards a resource centre and
a mobile library
- High frequency bus services with free use of
local public transport for all new residents for a 6 month period to
encourage uptake
- Cabling within all homes to allow easy access
to broadband services and easy home working
- Provision of a neighbourhood web site
- An extensive network of greenways, play areas
for children of all ages and allotments provided throughout the development
- A new 32 hectare Linear Park located on the
western edge of the development
- A sports centre and an outdoor multi-games/sports
area, including two all-weather pitches.
