This document sets out the proposals for the development of land west of the A1(M) at Stevenage (“West Stevenage”) for 5,000 dwellings with associated social and physical infrastructure, mixed use centre, local centres and employment areas, the strategic requirement for which is identified in the adopted Hertfordshire Structure Plan Review 1991 – 2011 (April 1998).

The Development Principles and Design Guide’s role is threefold:

i) To describe the Master Planning of the development;

ii) To demonstrate how the local authorities’ adopted Master Planning Principles will be applied; and

iii) To illustrate the broad phasing of the development.
